KUB & Prostate Ultrasound in Kirti Nagar

Comprehensive, Safe, and Accurate Imaging for Kidneys, Ureters, Urinary Bladder, and Prostate Gland.

What is a KUB & Prostate Ultrasound?

A KUB & Prostate Ultrasound is a non-invasive diagnostic scan that provides high-resolution images of the entire urinary system and the male prostate gland. Performed transabdominally (from the outside of the lower abdomen), this scan allows Dr. Neeraj Sharma to thoroughly evaluate the health of your kidneys, track the ureters, check the urinary bladder’s capacity, and measure the size of the prostate. It is the fundamental test used to detect kidney stones, identify urinary tract blockages, find the root cause of blood in urine (hematuria), and assess early signs of prostate enlargement (BPH).

Frequently Asked Questions

The most important preparation is having a full urinary bladder. We advise drinking at least 3 to 4 glasses of water about 1 hour before your appointment and holding your urine. A comfortably full bladder acts as a “window” for the ultrasound waves, allowing Dr. Neeraj Sharma to clearly see the bladder walls, lower ureters, and the prostate gland.

Generally, fasting is not strictly required for a standard KUB & Prostate ultrasound, and you can eat a light meal. However, if your doctor has also requested a full abdominal scan (including the gallbladder or liver) along with it, you may be asked to fast for 4-6 hours. Our front desk will confirm this when you book.

The ultrasound itself is completely painless and non-invasive. Dr. Neeraj Sharma will apply warm gel to your lower abdomen and glide a probe over the skin. The only mild discomfort you might feel is a slight pressure on your full bladder during the scanning process, but you will be able to empty it immediately after.
