They do not produce any electricity or send any current into your body, so there is absolutely zero risk of an electric shock.
How should I prepare my hair before an EEG test?
It is very important that your hair is clean and dry before the test. Please wash your hair with shampoo the night before or the morning of the test, but do NOT use any conditioner, hair creams, oils, or styling gels. These products can prevent the electrodes from sticking properly to your scalp and can interfere with the recording of your brain waves.
How long does a routine EEG test take?
A routine EEG usually takes about 45 to 60 minutes. This includes the time needed by our technician to measure your head, carefully attach the electrodes, complete the actual 20-30 minute recording, and safely remove the electrodes afterward. If your doctor has specifically requested a ‘sleep-deprived EEG’, the process might take a bit longer.
